High-speed print speed should be calibrated after flow, pressure, temperature and cooling are under control. The maximum stable speed is lower than the momentary peak speed.
Prerequisites
- Stable diameter.
- Calibrated flow.
- Pressure advance.
- Sufficient cooling.
Speed ladder
Start at a validated medium speed and increase walls, infill and travel separately. Check corners, bridges and dimensions.
Production test
- Long print.
- First and last part.
- Surface.
- Failure rate.
| Area | Check | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Flow | Wall width | Under-extrusion |
| Pressure | Corners | Bulging |
| Cooling | Layers | Warp |
| Machine | Long run | Overheat |
Common engineering mistakes
- Jumping to maximum speed.
- Ignoring flow.
- Testing one small part.
- No long run.
- Not saving the profile.
Buyer checklist
- Is speed stable?
- Is flow calibrated?
- Are corners clean?
- Is cooling sufficient?
- Did a long print pass?
