FilamentLab
R&D Capabilities
FilamentLab focuses on the development and manufacturing of 3D printing materials, with continuous efforts in material formulation, processing technology, printing performance, and product consistency. We are committed to providing stable, reliable, and application-oriented 3D printing material solutions for customers worldwide.
Our current R&D focus is on TPU filaments in the 65A–95A hardness range. By optimizing raw materials, formulation ratios, extrusion temperatures, drawing speed, cooling, sizing, and winding processes, we aim to achieve a balanced combination of flexibility, elasticity, layer adhesion, flow performance, and printing stability.
01 Material Formulation Development
We optimize base polymers, functional additives, color masterbatches, and other material components according to different application requirements.
Our development focuses on:
TPU materials with different hardness levels
Flexibility and elasticity
Layer adhesion
Flow and melt stability
Surface quality
Printing stability
Batch-to-batch consistency
02 TPU Material Development
TPU is currently one of FilamentLab’s key material development areas.
We continuously optimize formulations and processing parameters for different hardness levels and applications, supporting flexible components, functional models, protective parts, industrial prototypes, and other applications requiring elastic 3D printing materials.
Different hardness grades allow us to provide a broader range of flexible 3D printing solutions for different customer requirements.
03 Extrusion Process Development
The performance of 3D printing filament depends not only on the raw materials and formulation, but also on the extrusion process.
FilamentLab continuously optimizes temperature control, extrusion speed, drawing speed, cooling and sizing, and winding parameters using 45 mm screw extrusion systems.
The objective is to improve filament diameter stability, roundness, surface quality, and overall consistency.
04 Printing Performance Optimization
During material development, we focus not only on the physical properties of the filament but also on its actual printing performance.
We evaluate and optimize printing parameters such as temperature, printing speed, retraction, and layer adhesion to improve printing stability across different applications and 3D printing systems.
05 Color & Appearance Development
We develop a range of colors and appearance options according to market and customer requirements.
Custom color matching is available for customers who require specific colors, helping brands and distributors develop consistent product lines and customized filament collections.
06 Customized Material Development
FilamentLab provides customized solutions for brands, distributors, 3D printing service providers, and professional users.
Depending on the application, we can support customization of material performance, hardness, color, filament specifications, and packaging.
Our development approach allows material formulations and production parameters to be adjusted according to specific customer requirements and target applications.
07 Product Testing & Continuous Improvement
We combine raw material inspection, in-process quality control, and finished-product testing to evaluate filament diameter, roundness, weight, appearance, and printing performance.
Test results are used to continuously optimize material formulations and production parameters while improving consistency between different production batches.
08 Future Material Development
FilamentLab plans to continuously expand its 3D printing material development capabilities.
In addition to TPU, we plan to further develop PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PC, PA, and other functional and engineering-grade 3D printing materials according to market demand.
Our goal is to continuously improve material formulations and manufacturing processes to provide more stable, diverse, and professional material solutions for 3D printing applications worldwide.
