Bottom line: TPU tyre models need tread geometry, wall thickness and infill tuned to grip, deformation and wear. A soft TPU alone does not guarantee traction. The tread pattern and contact pressure decide how the tyre behaves.

Printing notes

  • Use direct drive or a short feed path.
  • Keep retraction short.
  • Print at moderate speed.
  • Dry the filament.
  • Test on the intended surface.

Costly mistakes

  • Choosing only by hardness.
  • Too-thin tread walls.
  • Excessive retraction.
  • Wet filament.
  • No wear test.

Buyer / engineer checklist

  • What grip and deformation are needed?
  • Is the tread pattern suitable?
  • Are walls and infill correct?
  • Is the filament dry?
  • Has wear been tested?
