Bottom line: TPU tyre models need tread geometry, wall thickness and infill tuned to grip, deformation and wear. A soft TPU alone does not guarantee traction. The tread pattern and contact pressure decide how the tyre behaves.
Design factors
| Factor | Effect |
|---|---|
| Hardness | Deformation and grip |
| Tread pattern | Contact pressure and drainage |
| Wall thickness | Shape retention |
| Infill | Compliance and support |
| Surface texture | Friction |
Printing notes
- Use direct drive or a short feed path.
- Keep retraction short.
- Print at moderate speed.
- Dry the filament.
- Test on the intended surface.
Costly mistakes
- Choosing only by hardness.
- Too-thin tread walls.
- Excessive retraction.
- Wet filament.
- No wear test.
Buyer / engineer checklist
- What grip and deformation are needed?
- Is the tread pattern suitable?
- Are walls and infill correct?
- Is the filament dry?
- Has wear been tested?
Describe the model and surface and we can recommend hardness and structure.TPU advice
