Glass fiber reinforced filament fits stiff brackets, jigs and dimensionally stable parts. It is less suitable where impact or fine surface finish dominates. Nozzle wear and drying must be planned.
Good applications
- Fixtures and brackets.
- Stiff housings.
- Dimensional parts.
- Moderate heat.
Process controls
Use a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle, dry the filament and keep flow stable. Layer direction determines bending and failure behaviour.
Validate
- Bending and impact.
- Screw and hole strength.
- Nozzle wear.
| Use | GF advantage | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Fixture | Stiffness | Deflection |
| Housing | Stability | Impact |
| Heat | Moderate resistance | Temperature |
| Surface | Not ideal | Finishing |
Common engineering mistakes
- Standard brass nozzle.
- Assuming all properties improve.
- Ignoring orientation.
- Wet material.
- No nozzle maintenance.
Buyer checklist
