Bottom line: PLA warping is less common than with ABS but still occurs on large flat parts. Work through bed levelling, Z-offset, bed temperature, bottom-layer cooling and draughts. Adhesive helps only after the mechanical setup is correct.

Checklist

ItemAction
Bed levellingVerify across the whole plate
Z-offsetSlight compression, not excessive
Bed temperatureWithin the PLA range
Bottom coolingReduce for the first layers
DraughtsShield the printer
GeometryAdd radii or brim

Order of checks

  1. Clean and level the plate.
  2. Set Z-offset.
  3. Set bed temperature.
  4. Reduce bottom-layer cooling.
  5. Add brim or radii if needed.

Costly mistakes

  • Adding adhesive first.
  • Bed temperature too high or too low.
  • Strong cooling from the first layer.
  • Ignoring draughts.
  • No geometry change.

Buyer / engineer checklist

  • Is the plate clean and level?
  • Is Z-offset correct?
  • Is bed temperature right?
  • Is bottom cooling reduced?
  • Is the geometry supported?
