Vacuum sealing protects dry filament from moisture during storage and transport. It does not dry a wet spool or compensate for a damaged bag. Control sealing, desiccant and opening procedure.

Prepare the spool

  • Dry and cool the filament.
  • Check weight and label.
  • Keep the spool clean.

Seal properly

Use a suitable bag, remove excess air and verify the weld. Add labeled desiccant and protect sharp spool edges.

Use and restore

  • Open only when needed.
  • Record the date.
  • Reseal quickly with fresh desiccant.

Common engineering mistakes

  • Sealing a hot spool.
  • Using a punctured bag.
  • Forgetting desiccant.
  • Leaving bags open.
  • Not labeling the opening date.

Buyer checklist

  • Is the filament dry?
  • Is the bag intact?
  • Is the seal verified?
  • Is desiccant active?
  • Is storage recorded?
