Post-curing can improve strength and heat resistance, but only when the resin chemistry, geometry and dimensional limits allow it. More exposure is not automatically better. Validate the process on a representative part before releasing a production recipe.

Start with the chemistry

  • Check whether the material actually requires post-curing.
  • Separate thermal annealing from UV curing.
  • Confirm the supplier’s recommended window.

Control the process

Record temperature, time, UV dose, fixture support and cooling rate. Small changes can alter warpage and colour.

Verify the result

  • Measure before and after dimensions.
  • Test the loaded feature, not only a coupon.
  • Keep a reference part for future batches.

Common engineering mistakes

  • Curing a part that does not need it.
  • Using one coupon for every geometry.
  • Ignoring distortion after cooling.
  • Mixing UV and thermal cure claims.
  • Changing suppliers without revalidation.

Buyer checklist

  • Is the material grade confirmed?
  • Is the support fixture defined?
  • Are before/after dimensions recorded?
  • Is the functional feature tested?
  • Is the recipe locked for repeat orders?

Send the part geometry, material and target property to our engineering team for a process review.
